Happy Lunar New Year! 3 ways I am starting over this year

Today is the  first day of the Lunar New Year following the cycles of the moon. 2016 is the Year of the Monkey. This is an exciting time of fresh starts, setting new intentions and celebrating past chapters.

For me this Lunar New Year is especially unique! I lots of movement, momentum and changes happening right now in my life. But first, lets not forget the importance of looking back. As we create energy around the new year I want to mention how important it is to first sit in silence and bring a feeling of gratefulness into our hearts. This allows us to reflect on moments of the past year and perhaps use those experiences to channel and set your new intentions.

Let me be clear when I say starting new things scares me. Change does not always come easy and letting go is something I have had to teach myself to embrace. I decided to challenge myself to stay focused on my goals and dreams and follow them with full steam head. Here goes:

  1. Starting a Blog! Welcome to my first ever blog post. A little about me, I am a Yogi, Wellness Guru, Sales Machine, and World Traveler. I will come with a theme every week and post something new on this blog every Monday. Fresh starts and new beginnings coupled with the blog launch is my focus this week. The first step in any journey and making your dreams come true is ACTION.Putting pen to paper, getting your running shoes on and heading out the door now is crucial. Whatever change you are trying to make STOP making excuses and START taking action now.
  2. New Roommate! My past roommate and I have lived together for 4 years and 9 months; but who’s counting? We live in San Francisco the most expensive city in the country. I love it here and have no plans to leave anytime soon. Although my roommate and I are very different people, the one thing we had in common was our stubbornness to leave our Rent Controlled apartment. Ultimately she has decided to move out and I am thankfully staying put just 3 blocks from the Pacific Ocean! Living situations are a big part of your happiness. Where you spend your time and who you spend it with has a large impact on your happiness and wellbeing. During this transition I am making sure to give myself some time and space before starting a relationship with a new roommate. My most important factor is a respectful, comfortable and relaxed vibration in my home. I am excited for a new adventure with a fresh roommate.
  3. Volunteering! I am making a commitment to volunteer once per week. As I mentioned I am a Software Sales Professional and I love to Sell, Sell, Sell. I think a lot about money and I can be selfish with my time and money. I have always deeply enjoyed giving back to the community and volunteering feels like a way to serve in a positive way. I want to focus less on putting monetary value on everything and more on using my time in a way that feels healthy and genuine. More on this later…

I challenge you this New Year- the year of the Monkey to create a fresh start for yourself and set 3 new intentions. Wishing you and your family a prosperous and fruitful Lunar New Year!
